2015 Favorite Products

Greetings Earthlings!!

As usual, I'm a little behind on this post. I wasn't even going to write this post because I didn't try too many new products last year, to be able to compare and determine which were the best. So what I decided to do was talk about the products that were actually my favorites this year... Whether they were new releases/new to me, or tried and true.

So without further adieu, my favorite products of 2015, in no particular order.

Facorite Foundation Combo - Maybelline Matte + Poreless and Hard Candy Glamoflage Foundation:

I don't really care for the Glamoflage foundation on its ow, but mixed into other foundations it does really well!! It gives the Maybelline foundation that added boost of coverage, and a little extra longevity!

Revlon Colorstay Foundation:

This is probably my holy grail foundation! I just LOVE it!! It does a FABULOUS job of staying put on my oily skin! I really can't say enough good things about this foundation!

Glamoflage Concealer:

I LOVE this concealer from the drug store!! It is seriously full coverage!! If you've never tried it, you need to!! It's really thick and so pigmented! Because it is so thick I do like to mix it with the next product...

CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer:

This is a great light coverage concealer! Some days I wear it alone, and some days I'll mix it in with my Hard Candy concealer, depending on the amount of coverage I'm after that day.

NYX 3C Concealer Palette:

These creams are REALLY thick, and can be hard to work with if you are used to thinner products. But, they give a really nice coverage and I like that they threw in the deeper shade for contouring! I also think that the contour shade, in the light palette, is actually a good contour shade for us pale girls! (Side note, it reminds me of the color of milk chocolate, so now I really want chocolate..)

Kryolan Professional Translucent Powder mixed with Coty Air Spun Translucent Extra Coverage:

This is a combination that I discovered right at the tail end of 2015, so it almost feels like cheeting, but I thought I'd give it a mention. I like to bake my under eye concealer, but the Kryolan was too chalky and the Coty Airspun was too dark, so I got it in my head to mix the two and I've never looked back!

The Manizer Sisters Palette:

I died when this came out, and then I died again when I actually found it in my local Khols!! I adore this palette so much! I use Mary-Lou and Cindy-Lou the most, but Betty is a nice bronzer (when used very sparingly on me...) and an awesome eyeshadow!

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Glow Palette:

I have used and abused this palette... The highlight shades are incredible and so under rated, and the deeper shades create a nice glowy bronzer or eye look.. I'm telling you, this is one of the best highlighters I've ever tried... But then again, I haven't tried too many...

Wet 'N Wild Take On The Day Primer:

If you have oily lids and are on a budget, this is the primer for you! No joke this stuff is legit! I have the Urban Decay Primer Potion and the Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer, and the Wet 'N Wild one compares to the Lorac primer.

Makeup Revolution Essential Mattes Palette:

This reminds me SO much of the Naked Basics Palettes by Urban Decay, which I do not own... I got this palette right around the same time that the original Tartelette palette came out, and the only reason this is in my favorites and the Tartelette isn't is because I used the Revolution palette more, because if I use it up, I can justify the $7 to re purchase it..

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows:

Do I really need to say anything about ColouPop? No, but I will! I don't know what kind of Witchcraft is in these shadows, but I'm so glad I don't have to go to Diagon Alley to get my hands on these little pots of wonder! (As I'm typing this I am deep in the midst of a Harry Potter marathon... RIP Allen Rickmen.....)

Lorac Mega Pro 2:

The Lorac Pro formulation is my favorite formula of eyeshadows! They are so buttery and pigmented, its insane!!! They do kick up a lot of powder and can cause some fall out, but fall out is to be expected with high pigment shadows, so it doesn't really bother me.. (I also really like her limited edition palettes as well, though many people don't seem to....)

Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal Volume Express Mascara:

This has been my most used mascara of the year, it's getting pretty nasty and I probably will repurchase it. It's not holy grail or anything though, so if you have any suggestions of your favorite drugstore mascaras, let me know!

Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner:

This is the BLACKEST gel eyeliner I've ever tried. It's also the easiest to work with. I've tried the Wet 'N Wild one, and its far too thick and difficult to work with... The Maybelline one is creamy and rich and back as my soul! Hahaha!!

NYX Liquid Suedes:

I'm not one for the super drying matte lip products, but I do like me some matte lips, so these have been so awesome as I don't find them to be too drying.. Don't get me wrong, you don't want to try to wear them if you are having a chapped lip day, and you definitely want to exfoliate before you put one of these on, but they never fully "set" on the lips. They stay a little "tacky" for lack of a better word, but they are not sticky or uncomfortable. You can blot the "tacky" feeling away if you choose, just like with any other lipstick, that is going to help prolong the wear of the product, but also make them a little more drying..

Ulta Matte Lip Cream:

These are similar to the NYX Lip Suedes because they have very similar, moussey textures. They both also take some time to become matte, and neither of them fully set, like many matte liquid lipsticks out there. This also allows them to be less drying. again, as with the NYX ones, they still do dry your lips out a little, just not as bad as other brands. They have a decent shade selection, though there could always be more ;).

Millani Anti-Feathering Lip Liner:

This has SAVED MY LIFE on more than one occasion!!! I use it with some of the products mentioned below.... Turned them from fail to favorites!!

Rimmel Show Off Lip Laquer:

These were almost a fail for me... When I first tried them I loved the pigmentation and the longevity, but quickly became upset with them because they feathered really badly on me... If it hadn't been for the Milani Anti-Feathering lip liner, I probably would have given up on these.... But I didn't and they are now my favorites because they feel so good, and last so well on the lips!

Rimmel Show Off Lip Velvet:

These are similar to the NYX Liquid Suedes. They have different textures and the Rimmel Velvets set to be a true matte, but as far as lasting power and comfort level, they are very close. My only complaint with these and the Lip Laquers is the shade selection... They don't have too much variety in the shades they offer...

The Body Shop Lip Butter:

This is one of my favorite lip moisturizers! I feel it actually moisturizing, not just sitting on my lips making them slippery.. This is something I keep in the center drawer of my vanity and use it to prep my lips before I apply my lipstick. You do want to remove it before applying any other lip product, but when you remove the excess, you still feel moisturized.

Alright, that is all the favorites I have from 2015. What were your favorite products last year? What did you find yourself using the most?

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful day, and if someone hasn't already told you, you are beautiful!!!

Why Did I Start A Blog?

Greetings Earthlings!

*This post is going to be more of a diary style...*

So I've been evaluating some things lately... I don't want to get too deep, but I'm starting to question myself a little.. My career hasn't gone how I had planed or hoped it would, and that has affected my confidence a little... So lately I've been upset with myself for not blogging more, but at the same time, I haven't been very inspired.. I asked myself some hard questions. "What does it take to be inspired?" "What was the reason you decided to blog in the first place?" Geez, Ashley, You don't beat around the bush do you?

I wanted to start a blog so that I could have a platform to be able to talk about the things that I'm passionate about.

I don’t have too many friends in real life. Not because I don’t want them, but I have a hard time connecting with people. Part of my problem is insecurity, and equal parts anxiety and depression.. Yep.. That lovely cocktail of worrying, over-thinking everything, and a debilitating lack of desire to get out of my comfort-zone.

So, like many before me, I thought a blog would be a good way to get my self out of my comfort zone and make some friends who have similar interests without necessarily having to put on pants...

Now, thats not to say that I don't have any friends, but the friends I do have don't all share or understand my passion for makeup. Not that they are unsupportive, I just feel like when I'm talking about makeup they hear gibberish. My poor husband knows far more than I think he would prefer to know... So, instead of boring my friends and family, I thought of this blog as a way to vent about crappy products, gush about the good ones and start discussions on topics that make me and my readers giddy!

I'm hoping that through this blog I'll build some friendships with people who think like I do and share my interests. I also think I have a unique perspective on makeup. I feel like you either LOVE "natural, everyday" makeup or "full-on glam." I think there is a time and place for both styles of makeup and both take talent.

As far as I am concerned, this is a safe space. I don't care what religion you are, what your gender identity is, what your sex life is like, how much (or little) you weigh or what color your skin is. We all have something in common, and if you are reading this, I'm assuming its makeup. So lets use that common ground (did I just miss an opportunity for a foundation pun?) to form relationships with people who live different lives than ourselves!

Anyway...  That's why I wanted to start a blog. I also have a YouTube channel, so if you want to check that out I'll leave it linked here.

Thanks for stopping by!
If someone hasn't already told you yet today, you are BEAUTIFUL!

My Picks For Golden Globes Best Dressed!

Greetings Earthlings, Welcome to Beauty Land!!

Today I'm sharing who I thought were the best dressed at the 2016 Golden Globes! This was SO HARD to narrow down, there were so many gorgeous gowns and makeup looks on the red carpet last night. But I wanted to pick my personal top 10 favorites. This list is NOT in any particular order, I couldn't rank them if I tried..

I also want to say before we get into it... It is NOT about what's on the outside that counts.. There is SO much more to these people than what they wore to an awards show. But that doesn't mean we can't have fun looking at all the gorgeous dresses, hairstyles and makeup. This is simply superficial, and entertaining.

So without further adieu...!

Bruce Dallas Howard

I mean can we talk about this dress... And the fact that she bought it off the rack at a department store...!!!! (Though I'm sure she had it altered to fit perfectly...) So awesome! She looked amazing!!

Queen Latifah

That blue is the color of my soul! I adore that shade so much it's SO gorgeous and makes me so happy and calm when I see it... Not to mention that it really pops against her complexion PERFECTLY!! Just YES!

Amy Adams

That dress is so gorgeous! And the fact that she took the "risk" of wearing orange with her red hair... I'm dying!! Not that I think redheads shouldn't wear certain colors, and I think that the rules of conventional fashion are pretty irrelevant by now...

Jennifer Lawrence

We all know she killed the red carpet last night.. Twitter was blowing up about her.. She slayed that dress so good!! SO GOOD!!!

Lady Gaga

I don't think I really need to say anything.. I think she looked STUNNING last night... Just unbelievably gorgeous!! I just can't... *Lots of unintelligible noises and sighs.*

Gina Rodriguez

That dress!!! Gorgeous, classic, perfect.....!!!! That color is just YUM! Not to mention, she's just stunning! She could have worn a potato sack and still looked gorgeous...

Kirsten Dunst

Her makeup is GORGEOUS and this dress is so FAB! I don't know if its everyone's cup of tea, but I thought she looked so gorgeous!

Helen Mirren

I don't have anything to say that hasn't already been said... The woman is so classy and so beautiful! And her dress was just pure glamour.

Laverne Cox

If I ever lost 60lbs and got remarried, her dress would be my wedding dress.. Classic, simple and gorgeous!

Uzo Adua

I have to say, she looked so beautiful! I sound like a broken record, but her dress was so classy and gorgeous!

I'm not done! I piked my 6 favorite men of the night... I am partial to most of these gorgeous gentlemen, but they all slayed last night anyway...

Jon Hamm

He will always be Don Drapper in my eyes, though that stint as Dr, Drew Baird on 30 Rock was quite amazing, too! The man just looks good in a suit (or in this case, a tux!)

Dwayne Johnson

I adore this man so much! If you don't follow him on Instagram, what are you doing with your life!?!? He seems like such a genuine, down to earth, purely good guy! Call me!!!

Harrison Ford

Harrison looked SO GOOD!!! Han Solo has always been a part of my life, since I was about 5 or 6.. I will forever be in love with that renegade, bad boy! But dang, does Harrison know how to wear a tux!!!

Leonardo DiCaprio

It's only right that I include Leo in my best dressed list.. I don't think he is capable of not looking spectacular...

Eddie Redmayne

I'm so in love with this gorgeous guy!! I fist discovered him in My Week With Marilyn and I about died! He is just beautiful!
And last but NOT least

Gerard Butler

How I long for him to sing to me the "Music of the Night.." If you know anything about me, you know about my unhealthy obsession with Gerry.. God I LOVE him!!!!

Thanks for stopping by! Who were your favorites?

The Happy Endings & New Beginnings Tag

Greetings Earthlings and welcome to Beauty Land!

So I've been seeing a few bloggers doing this tag and it looked like it would be fun to try! Elena at BeautyMagicBox was the first person I saw do this tag, and Alice from Alice'sBeautyMadness was the first to translate the questions into English!

1) What was the best product of 2015?

That is SUCH a hard question for me to answer... I'm gonna have to go with my Lorac Mega Pro 2. It's GORGEOUS and so versatile! I have a "4 Looks, 1 Palette" video using this palette.. I'm also going to cheat and say that my "most used" product would be my Hard Candy Glamoflage Concealer. It is SO incredibly full coverage I can't even believe it!! If you haven't tried it, you should!

2) What product was the biggest fail in 2015?

The biggest fail for me was almost as hard to come up with... It's either my Hard Candy Glamoflage Foundation, because it looks TERRIBLE on the skin (though I do LOVE to mix it in with other foundations), OR my Urban Decay "Deslick" setting spray. I got the sample size from Ulta for $15 and I do not think it does ANYTHING to reduce oilyness.. Am I using it wrong, perhaps? If you can tell me how you use it to get it to work, let me know!

3) What Challenge did you over come in 2015?

I decided to take on cream contouring... I don't think I've mastered it, by any means, but I'm not as afraid of it as I used to be...

4) What was the best discovery of 2015?

My Glamoflage Concealer! I can't say enough good things about it!

5) What product were you hoping Santa would bring you?

The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit palette..... Sigh....

Get it here... I'll live vicariously through you...

6) What product will you absolutely buy in 2016?

The Tartelette in Bloom palette, more ColourPop anyghing and some Kat VonD Products.

I have severe envy every time I see a tutorial with this palette.. YOU WILL BE MINE!!!

7) What product will you absolutely NOT buy in 2016?

Anything Younique or from any other MLM. Sorry if you sell it, but I won't buy it..

8) What is your makeup challenge for 2016?

I'm going to be focusing on cream contouring still.. But I'd also like to get to the point where I can do my makeup in under 10 minutes... I'm an all or nothing kinda girl when it comes to makeup... I either go bare or full on glam 10 layers of foundation, etc.. In my defense, I have pretty bad acne, and if I'm going to wear makeup, I like to make sure I'm pretty well covered and concealed...

9) What are your beauty resolutions for 2016?

I want to get more comfortable experimenting, especially on other faces.. I'd also like to get over my fears, and actually start freelancing, rather than just dreaming about doing it....

10) What colors will you use more in 2016?

ALL colors! I used to wear more color than neutrals, but then I got really into neutrals and color went on the back burner.. I want to bring color back...

The Obligatory New Years Post

Greetings Earthlings!!

So I know I'm a week late on this subject, I wasn't going to write about it at all, but I decided it would be a good idea, since I am having a little bit of a hard time coming up with topics right now.

New Years Resolutions are beaten to death on the blogging-/vlogging-sphere. #NewYearNewMe amiright? Kudos to you if you set resolutions and stick to them, because I never seem to be able to. That's why, this year, I'm not making any resolutions. I do have personal goals and a vision of where I'd like to be at the end of the year, though.
Goal #1; I'd like to be more healthy. There is no set number of pounds or inches I want to lose, because I never meet the goal and end up getting depressed and causing myself to gain more weight... So, instead of resolving to diet and lose weight, I'm setting a goal that I'll make smarter choices (no more pop, less sugar, less alcohol, etc) but instead of depriving myself and setting myself up for failure, I'm cutting each vice out, one at a time. First to go is pop. Then when I feel like I'm not missing it anymore, I'll cut something else. I'm also going to find a physician to make sure my hormones are in check.
Goal #2 is to start blogging more regularly. I'd really love to set a regular schedule for blogging, I just have a hard time writing when I'm not inspired to... Inspiration comes in bursts for me, and if I force something it doesn't feel genuine or honest.
And goal #3 is to learn everything I can learn about my career. I am a Licensed Esthetician, but I feel like I'm really lacking the knowledge I should have by now. I'd also like to be able to put myself out there and land my dream job, grow my client base and not let my insecurities hold me back..

I know the're not much difference between yearly goals and resolutions, but I feel like saying "goals" alleviates much of the pressure and stress, especially when it comes to my personality and tendencies,

Did you set resolutions or are you more goal-oriented? What are some topics you'd like to know my thoughts on?

If someone hasn't told you already, you are gorgeous!
